Underground trams are confirmed

The official Infrastructure developer blog and official First Look video explicitly describe taking trams underground. The video’s chapter is titled “Underground tram networks,” and the timestamped English transcript identifies trams. This is the confirmed answer for underground transport in the public material reviewed.

The developer also describes tram vehicles operating as light rail and connecting to traditional rail. That statement does not establish a separate heavy-rail metro system.

Transport Fever 3 - First Look: Infrastructure

Official pre-release footage. The timestamped English transcript and the 02:50 underground-tram chapter were checked; the spoken line identifies trams, not a dedicated heavy-rail metro. The video remains playable with a source link if embedding fails.

Are dedicated metro or rail stations confirmed?

No. The sources checked do not explicitly confirm dedicated heavy-rail metro vehicles, underground mainline trains, or a distinct metro-station system. Treat that part of the question as unknown until an official source or reproducible launch-build test confirms it.

A community tutorial uses “subway” in its title, but its creator’s transcript clarifies that the demonstrated system is underground trams. A frame at 01:37 shows an underground passenger stop; the creator says that stop is for passengers only. This is one creator’s pre-release demonstration and does not prove a general cargo or heavy-rail rule.

Video and evidence limits

The embedded video is the official Infrastructure First Look, cued to the underground-tram segment at 02:50. Its transcript and that gameplay frame were checked separately. A second player-made video was also checked for its transcript and a station frame; it is used only to clarify the terminology in that demonstration, not as an official specification.

The public Reddit and Steam Community results surfaced in the SERP are player discussion or requests. They do not establish whether dedicated metro rail exists in the game.

Checked date

Checked 29 September 2026 against the official Infrastructure developer blog, official video and the surfaced player discussions. Steam still showed an approximate eight-hour countdown at 07:19 UTC, so these claims had not yet been confirmed in a publicly unlocked build.
